Scientific Software Developer (all genders)

With cutting-edge research in the fields of ENERGY, HEALTH and MATTER, around 1,500 employees from more than 70 nations are working at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) to master the major social challenges of our time.

The Central Department of Research Technology develops specialised research equipment for the institutes of the HZDR.

We are looking for a Scientific Software Developer (all genders) to strengthen the Instrumentation department.

Your tasks:

  • You support the Central Department of Research Technology of HZDR in the development of software applications with higher programming languages
  • You create software components for the control of large-scale equipment and experimental machines
  • You develop, test and commission your code on existing research infrastructure
  • You define interfaces to Machine Learning, DataLifeCycleManagement, Data-Streams and Data-Access
  • You work in all phases of the development process (conception, design, visualization of experimental or control software)
  • You will actively accompany the software specification and documentation process

Your profile:

  • Completed university degree (Bachelor's/Master's/Diploma) in the field of information technology/computer science or comparable
  • Profound knowledge of at least one relevant programming language, e.g. Python (knowledge of C++ is an advantage)
  • Experience in the development process and cross-platform software systems
  • Confident handling of typical technologies in the software development process (e.g. Git, GitLab), as well as database modelling are an advantage
  • Structured and analytical approach as well as independent and team-oriented way of working
  • Good language skills in German and English
