Postdoc (f/m/d) Advanced focused ion beam applications

The Institute for Ion Beam Physics and Materials Research is dedicated to the study of materials and their nanostructures that can be considered for future applications in information technology and are based on electrical, magnetic or optical functionalities.

The Group Ion Induced Nanostructures is looking for a

Postdoc (f/m/d) Advanced focused ion beam applications. 

Your tasks

  • Implementation of IBC user experiments and scientific collaboration with IBC and RIANA users
  • Develop and strengthen your own FIB centric research profile
  • Interaction with RIANA ion beam users during the preparation, implementation and interpretation of their experiments (within the RIANA project)
  • Presentation and publication of results at meetings, conferences and scientific papers
  • Outreach and user acquisition for FIB based materials modification and analysis

Your profile

  • Completed university studies (PhD) in the field of solid state physics, materials science or comparable natural sciences
  • An excellent PhD degree in Physics, Materials science or a related field
  • Hands-on experience in the operation of FIB instruments
  • Good knowledge of the underlying ion beam physics
  • The ability to lead the development of new experimental techniques based on FIBs
  • Very good teamwork skills with ability to collaborate with experimentalists and theorists
  • Very good English language skills (spoken and written)
