Details Sample Characterization

Mineral: Goethite
Reference: XGTZT15
Preparation: Goethite was synthesized according to Machesky and Anderson [24]. Details of the method refers to Zhao et al. [25]: Goethite was precipitated by dissolving Fe(NO3)3·9H2O salt using 5 M NaOH with an OH/Fe ratio of 2.0. The suspension was aged for 48 h at room temperature. Then, additional 5 M NaOH was added until the pH reached 12.5. The precipitates were aged at 60 °C for 6 days and centrifuged. Supernatant solutions were discarded. The precipitate was dialyzed to remove excess salt and then freeze-dried.
