Details Sample Characterization

Mineral: Ferrihydrite
Reference: AFPMA10
Preparation: synthesized following the procedure proposed by Cornell and Schwertmann, 1996 [1]; a 0.1 M Fe(NO3)3 solution was brought to pH 8.0 through dropwise addition of a 1 M NaOH solution; obtained dispersion of ferrihydrite was then aged at 20 °C for 48 h, and then dialyzed until the conductivity was lower than 10 µS/cm; freeze-dried in order to obtain a dry powder.
Crystallinity: nanoparticles exhibit a strong aggregation state with particle diameters smaller than 10 nm
Sample characterized via: ☑ Transmission electron microscopy (TEM)
