ATP (50 g) was activated with 500 mL H2O2 and 250 mL HCl (1 M) for 2 h to remove metal cations and residual carbon in the crystal backbone of ATP. After exhaustive washing with deionized water and ethanol, the activated ATP was dried for 24 h at 80°C under vacuum. Fe(II,III)/ATP nanoparticles were synthesized by the ultrasonic co-precipitation method (Liu et al. 2008). The activated ATP (0.7 g) was dispersed into 100 mL 0.2 M of FeCl3 and 100 mL 0.45 M of FeCl2 solution for 3 h with continuous ultrasound stirring. 1 M NaOH was then added dropwise to the mixture until pH~11.0. The precipitations were filtered, washed with deionized water to pH 7.0, dried at 70°C for 24 h, and then fired at 450°C in muffle furnace. |
