Scientific Employee (f/m/d) Electrical Engineering/ Measuring Techniques for the development of innovative electrical heating in industrial processes

The Institute of Fluid Dynamics is conducting basic and applied research in the fields of thermo-fluid dynamics and magnetohydrodynamics in order to improve the sustainability, the energy efficiency and the safety of industrial processes.

The Department of Department Magnetohydrodynamics is looking for a Scientific Employee (f/m/d) Electrical Engineering/ Measuring Techniques for the development of innovative electrical heating in industrial processes

Recruitment is subject to final approval by the project sponsor.

Your tasks

  • Design, construction, testing and evaluation of methods and setups for effective electrical heating of materials with low electrical conductivity
  • Planning, conducting and analysing experiments on a laboratory scale
  • Design and optimisation of experimental setups
  • Development and optimisation of algorithms for data evaluation
  • Transferring results and insights from laboratory experiments to industrial processes

Your profile

  • Completed university studies (Master/Diploma) and PhD in the field of electrical engineering or comparable specialisation
  • Experience in the numerical simulation of electromagnetic problems
  • Experience with the design and construction of power electronic circuits
  • Experience in the field of measurement data acquisition and evaluation
  • Knowledge in the fields of fluid dynamics, chemistry and materials science is helpful, but not a requirement
  • Experience in data acquisition and evaluation
  • Interest in multidisciplinary collaboration in an international team
  • Programming experience with Python, C++ etc.
  • Very good English skills required
  • Very good german skills desired
