Why is there an association? What does the association do?
The registered non-profit association, founded on January 10, 2023, serves as a point of contact for friends and sponsors of the HZDR who support the activities of the center both ideally and financially. It appeals to both private individuals and companies. The purpose of the association is to provide resources to promote the research activities of the HZDR and its public presence.
We achieve this through our association activities, which are defined by the objectives set out in the association's statutes:
- Promoting research at the HZDR, for example by awarding prizes for outstanding scientific work and other award-worthy activities;

- Contributing to the maintenance of national and international scientific relations;
- Promoting and supporting public relations efforts beyond the specialist community;
- Encouraging the exchange of experiences between former and current HZDR employees;
- Preserving the traditions of the research center and the research location.

What do we have to offer?
As a member of the association:
- You support exciting projects and outstanding scientists in our research areas,
- You can make numerous new contacts and maintain established ones,
- You will be informed about current activities at the HZDR, and
- You can contribute your own ideas and suggestions.
The annual general meeting of the Sponsors' Association also offers an opportunity to get directly involved.

Travel expenses support for Master students at HZDR
The HZDR Sponsors' Association is offering travel grants for HZDR Master students. Applications can be submitted until September 15, 2024. The funding amount per application is up to approximately 400 euros. Applications - with justification and confirmation by the heads of department - should be submitted directly to the Sponsors' Association (foerderverein@hzdr.de(5)). The total funding amount is limited; the first applicants will benefit.

The association was founded on January 10, 2023 in the "Historisches Gasthaus Trompeter" restaurant. The founding members adopted the statutes and elected the association's board.
